Infrastructure tagging represents a systematic approach to resource metadata management within infrastructure provisioning. When utilizing the Terraform Workflows module, tagging mechanisms enable the application of categorization metadata—designated as “tags” in Amazon Web Services environments or “labels” in GCP environments—to provisioned infrastructure resources.

Technical context and purpose

The tagging capability serves multiple organizational objectives:
